Benefits of Eccentric Contractions

An Eccentric contraction is when you are lowering a weight during a regular set of an exercise. What that means is: the weight is exerting greater force than your muscles are and is forcing you back to the starting position. Studies have shown that during this phase of your repetition greater chemical changes happen in your body than on the Concentric phase (Flexing).
