Apparently strength training burns more calories than cardio! New studies have shown that strength training is, in fact, superior to steady-state cardio in its ability to burn calories. One study at the University of South Maine showed participants burning the same amount of calories from 30 minutes of weight training as they did from running at a 6min./mile pace for 30 minutes.

Another benefit of weight training is that it continues to burn calories for up to 36hrs after your workout as it increases your metabolism and builds muscle fibres that further increase your ability to burn fat in the future.
