How to stay hydrated – Vancouver Personal Training Nutrition Tip

I recommend that dieters try to drink 48 ounces (six 8-ounce glasses a day) of water. That’s because studies show that people who drink more water consume fewer calories during the day. And water is essential for staying healthy-it helps with digestion and metabolism, flushes toxins from your system and regulates body temperature.
But I know it can be tough for some people to gulp down that much H2O. Whatever the reason-you don’t like the flavor, you’re too busy, it causes you to make a few extra trips to the bathroom-I’ve got a fix. Check out the tips below to make sure you sip enough water stay healthy and slim down.

Be patient. Increasing your intake of water can also increase the frequency of visits to the restroom. But believe it or not, you can train your body to take in more water. If you’re really struggling with eight glasses, start with six glasses for a week or two, then increase to seven and finally work your way up to eight. As you get into better shape, your body will require-and even crave-more water.
Stay hydrated for workouts. It won’t be too tough to drink after a workout because you’ll likely be very thirsty, but to get the most of your sweat session, also try drinking before you hit the gym. Start with a glass of water prior to your workout, and when you’re through, drink two more glasses. That’s three glasses right there!
Drink a glass with every meal. Replace your normal beverage with water at each meal and snack. If you do this, you’ll already be halfway to your goal.
Add flavor. If you find the taste of plain water to bland, try adding a squirt of lemon, lime, grapefruit or other fruit.
Carry around a bottle of water. It’s easier to drink throughout the day when you have water with you-in your purse, your car or at your desk. Try toting a bottle of Best Life approved Nestle Pure Life water around; it’s a handy way to stay hydrated. (Just don’t forget to recycle!)
Limit your options. If you usually have lots of different beverages in your house-soda, juice, milk, iced tea, lemonade, etc.-try cutting back by one or two options. With fewer choices, there will be a little less temptation to sip something instead of water.

Personal Trainer Vancouver Tips

A new report claims that people who put off regular exercise until they hit the age of 50 can still benefit from physical activity. That’s the good news. The bad news is that it appears to take 10 years for the effects to kick in.
The Swedish study found that exercise made no difference in premature death rates for at least a decade for those who waited until later in life to start exercising. Researchers made their conclusions after following more than 2,200 men for 20 years. All of the participants followed exercise advice from personal trainers , nutritionist and physical therapist, participated in weight training, boot camp, and cardio programs, and were monitored by doctors throughout the study.

Researchers say they divided study participants into low, medium and high activity groups. According to the study, which was recently published in the British Medical Journal, about half the men reported a high level of exercise, corresponding to at least three hours of sport or heavy gardening each week. In addition, about a third said they exercised moderately by taking walks and cycling. Meanwhile, the rest of the volunteers did little or no exercise.

Not surprisingly, researchers noted that death rates were highest among the sedentary group, and lowest among the most active volunteers in the first five years of the study. However, after 10 years the men who began exercising at 50 had similar death rates to those in the high activity group. Doctors say the studies results were similar to giving up smoking. Researchers say the findings also suggest that further research needs to be conducted to see what amount of physical activity makes a difference on health.
“It has been shown that young people benefit from exercise but this is the first time we have been able to show that old people can also benefit from increasing their physical activity,” a researcher at Uppsala University in Sweden, said in a recent interview with news reporters.
Bottom line: It’s not too late to start an exercise regime.

So you have started working out, eating better and yet you are still not losing weight. This happens because your not making the right/enough changes to you lifestyle. Here are few pointers that will set you on the road to weight loss.

I know this one seems obvious but burn more calories. Maybe your workouts aren’t intense enough or perhaps they aren’t frequent as they should be. You should be exercising at least 3 times a week at an intensity that will get you sweating. This is a common problem among beginners and long time exercisers who just don’t like working hard.

Nutrition is usually the biggest problem for most exercisers. You should be eating 5+ times a day to optimize your metabolic rate. The more often you eat (without increasing calories) the more weight you will lose. Another good tip is to eat more fruits and vegies while decreasing simple carbohydrates(sugar).

The two above points are by far the most important but you should also try to sleep 7-8 hours a night, drink 2-3 litres of water a day and avoid excess alcohol. Follow these points and you will the lose weight and get the body you have always wanted.
