Coconut oil in coffee? Learn how our trainers take it.

coffee

I’m not sure about you guys, but my day just doesn’t feel right without a hot cup of fresh coffee first thing in the morning.  There is something about that little cup of java that just can’t be replaced in my morning routine. Over the years my morning coffee ritual has changed quite a bit. As a kid I had access to my parents high end cappuccino machine but eventually I moved out and couldn’t afford a fancy machine of my own. So French pressed with a dash of cream became my poison. Fast forward to today, after a few more evolutions, my morning ‘cup a Joe’ and I have finally found the coffee equivalent of Mr. Right. Now some of you might raise an eyebrow at what goes into it, but don’t josh it till ya try it.

Marina`s “Mr. Right” Morning Coffee

  •  1 cup of fresh organic fair trade dark coffee
  • 1 dash of  full fat cream
  • 1 tbsp organic raw coconut oil
  • 1 scoop of Muscle Pharm “cookies and crème” protein
  • 2 tsp organic cinnamon

Normally I will mix the dry ingredients into the bottom of my thermos, next the coconut oil and cream. Lastly I add the coffee. The reason I recommend doing it in this order is because protein powder dissolves a million times better than if added last. Then I will either stir or cap, and shake my thermos for around 30 seconds to get nice foam from the coffee. I find this is an awesome way to get some extra protein in the morning

I have heard a few different variations of “protein coffee” and I’m definitely not the only one who is reaping the benefits of this magical little drink. There is no question though, weather protein enriched or not everyone here has their own preference. Here are a few different ways the team here at KFS is taking their morning coffee.

Greg:

  • 1 cup of organic medium roast coffee
  • 2 tbsp organic raw coconut oil
  • at least 1 tbsp of  Irish grass-fed butter
  • Teaspoon of chocolate whey protein isolate

Greg adds all his ingredients into a magic bullet and lets it blend for a minute. He says the texture and flavor just cant be beat.

Jaewon:

  • 1 cup of fresh organic dark coffee

Jaewon keeps it simple, black coffee or bust!

Sean

  • Americano with a dash of non-fat milk

Alicia:

Alicia rarely drinks coffee but when she does she likes an iced Americano with heavy cream and stevia. On even rarer occasions (and weekends only) she orders a frappucinno and spikes it with whipped cream flavored vodka.  Once a bartender, always a bartender!
