Being Pandemic Fit: How to Stay Healthy During These Times
One of the biggest lessons 2020 has taught us is to adapt quickly to change. The whole world was struck by the massive effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, pushing people to work from home, students having classes online, and gatherings were put to a halt. With that being said, the new, remote set-up has made it difficult for people to do ordinary things, such as going to the gym.
There’s no denying that the fitness and wellness industry was one of the biggest industries that were struck by COVID-19. Most clients have resorted to working out at home and staying fit, but unfortunately, some people have been experiencing a lack of motivation to keep moving because of the circumstances.
Thankfully, some fitness classes and personal trainers have adjusted and made their programs available online or have 1-on-1 sessions. These programs help push their clients to keep moving and staying fit. Although these options are temporary for now, it’s best to work with what we have and continue fighting and staying healthy.
Here are some tips to help you keep moving during the pandemic:
Tip #1: Move to Stay Motivated
Remember — not all workouts should be done in a gym with all the fancy equipment. Some everyday activities can help you move, keep your heart rate up, and burn calories.
One of the best ways to stay motivated is by moving, and with that being said, make movement a huge part of your life. You can do simple things like picking up the pace when you’re out walking with your dog, have a cardio blast workout, try pilates and bodyweight classes, or even climb your stairs for a few minutes in your day.
Tip #2: Stay Accountable by Attending Online Fitness Classes
Of course, nothing beats sweating with a bunch of people in a room and going through an intense workout in one shared space. However, you can do that and feel the same energy by streaming fitness classes.
The great thing about online fitness classes is that every session will have an instructor or coach to guide you through the workout. Besides that, signing up for class will hold you accountable, pushing you to move more and power through each sweat session.
Tip #3: Fix Up Your Own Home Gym
You don’t need to pressure yourself to buy a squat rack or pull-up bar to stay motivated and work out at home. You can simply start by investing in affordable and practical gym equipment like a solid set of dumbbells, kettlebells, quality yoga mat, booty bands, and more.
With these items, you’ll have an effective home gym set-up that won’t burn your pockets and take up your home’s floor space.
Tip #4: Work with a Personal Trainer
If working out with a class isn’t for you, considering working with a personal trainer. Because COVID-19 restrictions are still up, it’s best to work out within your circle and hire your own personal trainer.
Having a personal coach to plan your fitness routine and hold you accountable can guarantee success and help you reach your fitness goals. Ideally, you want to work with someone who understands your fitness goals and can help create a program best suited for you.
The Last Stretch: Just Because We’re Swimming in Uncertainty, Doesn’t Mean We Should Stay Idle
One of the best things you can do for yourself is to keep moving. Understandably, uncertainty can make many of us feel like we’re in limbo. But if you take charge and understand that you have control over how you want to feel and look, you can swim through the pandemic with grace and more motivation.
