Meet Isabel, Crossfit Athlete and Competitor born and raised in Guatemala City.

Her “Why” story in her own words:

When I was a kid I used to be overweight. At a young age, I was not conscious of the damage this was causing to my body, and I simply ignored the fact that I needed a change in my life. I was never considered an athletic person at all, and I was too lazy to even try, convincing myself that I was fine, ignoring the insecurity my poor self-image was causing me. But It all started to change when I fell ill due to my terrible eating habits and impulses, and for months I had to take care of my diet. I lost a lot of weight, and I realize that this actually helped me recover, and also improved my confidence.

I did not want this feeling to go away… so I started to attend a gym where I would only follow a small circuit for 30 mins every day. It was a good start since the progress was consistent, but I wanted more. I joined Crossfit with my brother, and we both fell in love with it. I loved the feeling as my body gained strength, and endurance, and how healthy I was feeling. I’ve been training Crossfit for 8 years now, and I still get surprised by how much the human body is capable of, not just physically but mentally as well. I’ve been able to overcome many fears, barriers, and challenges by entirely replacing the “I can’t” with “I’ll learn and I’ll get there soon!”. I began to listen to my body in every training and competition so I could push myself to my limits, which were wider than I thought possible.

Now, I can’t imagine a life without fitness in it. I get really excited when I’m able to share this passion and feeling of fulfillment with others. So whichever your goals are, I really hope I can help you realize all that you are capable of!
